Commission rescinds a prior scheduling error and approves limited-live permit for Yerba Buena Lane restaurant with 10 p.m. cutoff

The San Francisco Entertainment Commission on May 22 rescinded a prior action on a permit that had been scheduled prematurely and then approved a separate one-year limited live-performance permit for a Yerba Buena Lane restaurant with a 10:00 p.m. end time for live music.
At the start of Item 5 the commission acknowledged an applicant’s matter had been placed on a prior agenda before the 30-day notice period had elapsed. The commission moved to rescind that earlier vote so the matter could be properly heard; the applicant was not present when the rescind motion was taken. The rescind motion was made, seconded and agreed to by the commission.
The commission then considered a one-year limited live-performance permit for Lisonbee Brasserie, a full-service restaurant near Market Street. Staff reported no letters, calls or emails opposing the application and presented proposed written conditions from SFPD. Lieutenant Pablo Ocio of Southern Station (representing Captain Charlie Orcs) recommended approval with the written conditions: "Southern Station does recommend the approval of the application with the written conditions that you have in front," Ocio said.
Commissioners questioned the proposed hours. Staff and commissioners noted that the standard limited-live permit practice typically sets a 10:00 p.m. cutoff; the commission adopted that continuity by amending condition number 4 to require a 10:00 p.m. end time for live music. A motion to approve the permit with that amendment was made, seconded and approved; the applicant expressed thanks.
Earlier in the meeting the commission also approved the April 24 minutes by roll call: Commissioner Lee — Aye; Commissioner Joseph — Aye; Commissioner Hyde — Aye; Commissioner Perez — Aye; President (Newland/Nuland) — Aye.
What happens next: the one-year limited live permit will allow the restaurant to operate live music in connection with brunch service and the permittee may request an extension after the one-year term if desired. Staff will monitor compliance with SFPD conditions and the 10:00 p.m. cutoff.
