The Entertainment Commission continued consideration of Milo Lounge's application for a place-of-entertainment permit on June 26, asking the applicant to submit a more detailed security plan, meet with Northern Station police and produce documented neighborhood outreach.
Staff told the commission Northern Station recommended denying the permit under code section 10.60.5(f)(4) because the security plan was inadequate given prior inspections and calls for service. Commanding officer Anne Mannix and permit officers outlined a history of prior citations for operating without a permit and cited a May incident where officers requested access to security footage that was not provided promptly.
Applicant Henry Hu acknowledged a prior citation for operating without a permit and said he had stopped after-hours operations and was working with ABC and the police. Commissioners pressed for concrete evidence of neighborhood outreach; one commissioner said letters or other documentation should accompany any return appearance. The applicant agreed to a continuance and to meet with police and neighborhood groups before returning.
The commission continued the item to the call of the chair and asked staff to help the applicant identify neighborhood organizations and to confirm Northern Station's acceptance of the revised security plan before a final hearing.
Next steps: applicant to meet with Northern Station, deliver a revised security plan and provide documented neighborhood outreach; staff will notify the commission when the conditions have been met and schedule a return hearing.
