Commission approves mechanical-amusement permit for 398 Seventh St.; Aunt Charlie's application continued

At its April 24 meeting the San Francisco Entertainment Commission approved one place-of-entertainment/mechanical-amusement application and continued another after police identified missing or incomplete materials.

For item 5a, the applicant for 398 Seventh Street (listed as Nugen Chi, dba Rumors) applied for a single pool table and two video games. The applicant said the venue will operate as a full-service restaurant with radio only (no live music). After questions from staff and police about layout and operations, a commissioner moved to approve the mechanical-amusement-device permit; roll-call votes were recorded as 'Aye' by Commissioner Perez, Commissioner Heights, Commissioner Joseph, Commissioner Lee and the President, and the permit was approved.

Item 5b (Park Neigh Moon, dba Fillmore Billiard at 1526 Fillmore Street) was removed from the final agenda after staff said Planning had notified the commission that a Planning 3:12 notice was required.

Item 5c (Aunt Charlie's Lounge, 133 Turk) was continued at the request of Officer Mike Torres of the Tenderloin Police Station. Torres said the application contained several omitted or incomplete items and asked that the applicant be given an opportunity to provide the missing information before the department makes a full recommendation. The applicant agreed to supply highlighted corrections and departments will complete reviews before rescheduling. The commission moved and seconded to continue the item.

No permits were revoked or denied at the meeting; actions taken were an approval for 398 Seventh Street and a continuance for Aunt Charlie's Lounge.
