Staff recommended and the commission approved a limited live performance permit for The Edge (4149 Eighth Street) and a major amendment and extended-hours permit for the DNA Lounge (375 Eleventh Street), both with the commission’s standard Good Neighbor Policy and tailored operational conditions. The commission also considered and conditionally granted place‑of‑entertainment permits for a set of other venues (including Summers/142 Minna and Park 7777 Camden Place) and continued one application at the applicant’s request.
The commission addressed a contested application for Reading/Greenough (applicant Paul Owens), where neighborhood outreach and concerns over hours prompted extended debate. Commissioners settled on a trial compromise to allow entertainment until midnight Sunday–Wednesday and until 1:30 a.m. Thursday–Saturday (with a provision for 1:30 a.m. on Sundays preceding a Monday holiday), subject to a return to the commission in three months to assess community impact.
The commission also approved an ongoing loudspeaker permit for Off the Grid at Minna Street (Wednesdays and Fridays, 11 a.m.–2 p.m.) to allow amplified, paid musicians at the lunchtime food‑truck event, and urged support for paying local artists.
Several items were approved without substantive opposition; the commission emphasized that station-recommended police conditions may be adjusted where they overlap with city policy or exceed the commission’s jurisdiction.
