The Entertainment Commission on Tuesday continued consideration of conditions for the Beauty Bar at 2299 Mission Street and directed the permittee to submit a full security plan and accept an interim Good Neighbor Policy while staff and police develop enforceable conditions.
Inspector Granelli and staff told the commission they had issued a Notice of Violation (No. 20091135) and found persistent issues including open doors and windows during entertainment, insufficient crowd control and lack of a security plan. Owner/manager Aaron Burrows (also identified as Erin Bruce) said the venue had installed a new fan and could close windows to reduce noise; he also said the bar has no cover charge and limited patron flows.
Mission Station permit officer Gary Buckner offered to meet with the owner to craft enforceable conditions and a security plan, and residents described nights of loud music, loitering, blocked driveways and human waste in the neighborhood. “We couldn’t sleep,” resident Alyssa Meese said, describing 30–40 people sometimes congregating in front of the bar late at night. Commissioners said the venue’s existing permit conditions were explicit and asked the permittee to demonstrate compliance; the commission voted to continue the item to the next meeting, requiring a completed security plan and adoption of the interim neighbor policy in the meantime.
Next steps: staff will coordinate with Officer Buckner to draft conditions, the permittee will provide a security plan and the item will return to the commission for adoption of specific conditions and enforcement language.
