The San Francisco Ethics Commission voted unanimously to amend its bylaws to change its regular meeting schedule. Under the adopted amendment (Article 7, Section 4), regular meetings will be held on the second Friday of each month at 9:30 a.m. in City Hall Room 400, except on city‑recognized holidays or when the televised meeting room is unavailable, in which case the meeting will be held on the closest practicable day.
Staff noted the schedule change would take effect in May 2020 and recommended starting the new schedule in May to avoid conflicts with Good Friday and the start of Passover in April. Commissioners discussed logistical considerations — including room booking, availability and how the earlier time might affect public participation — and received public comment urging the commission to consider the impact on working people and the unhoused.
The commission voted to adopt the bylaw amendment unanimously. Commissioners said they hoped the earlier meeting time could increase participation but asked staff to monitor participation and room scheduling and to adjust if needed.
