The San Francisco Ethics Commission unanimously approved three consent calendar items and delayed further action on a review of enforcement-process improvements until the full Commission can participate.
Chair Chiu moved to approve consent calendar items 3, 4 and 5 — which included draft minutes and two stipulation, decision and order matters — and Vice Chair Ambrose seconded. "Aye," the Commission responded, and Chair Chiu declared the motion passed unanimously.
Chair Chiu told colleagues the two stipulations on the consent calendar raised enforcement themes to watch, including incumbency, use of city resources and distinctions between personal and campaign funds. On agenda item 6, Chair Chiu said he would "like to continue this item to [the] July 2019 meeting because Commissioner Gray is not in attendance today," noting the Commission would benefit from his input. No commissioner objected and the matter was held over.
The holdover will allow staff and commissioners to prepare for a fuller discussion of enforcement priorities at a later meeting. Chair Chiu and staff agreed to coordinate on timing and any interim follow-up so the Commission can track any committee action related to items that may affect enforcement work.
