At its February meeting, the San Francisco Ethics Commission re-elected Chair Chu to continue as chair and selected Commissioner Ambrose to serve as vice chair.
Commissioner Yvonne Lee nominated Chu for chair; Chu agreed to run. After public comment and a short bylaw discussion, the commission recorded a roll-call result re-electing Chair Chu (vote 4—1 with Commissioner Copp dissenting). For vice chair, Commissioner Ambrose was nominated and accepted; the commission approved Ambrose as vice chair by roll call (4—1 noted earlier in discussion).
Before the officer elections the commission approved a resolution acknowledging the public service of outgoing Commissioner Paul A. Rennie, who completed his term on Feb. 1, 2019. Multiple commissioners and members of the public offered brief tribute remarks praising Rennie—s leadership and service to the city and the commission.
The personnel actions and the resolution were handled as part of the regular agenda and public comment period; no contested votes were recorded on the resolution and the officer elections were confirmed by roll-call voting as described above.
