The San Francisco Fire Commission on May 8 approved the minutes from its April 24 meeting and later voted to hear closed‑session items related to existing litigation and a personnel discipline matter.
After calling for public comment on the closed‑session items (none were received), a commissioner moved and a second was recorded to hear item 6B and 6C in closed session. The clerk read that the items would be heard "pursuant to Government Code section 54957(b) and 54956.9 and San Francisco Administrative Code section 67.1(b)(d) and (d)(1)," and the commission went into closed session.
When the meeting returned to open session at 11:02 a.m., the chair reported that a settlement in existing litigation had been approved and was recommended to the Board of Supervisors. The chair also reported that findings of fact in a public‑employee discipline case (case number 202,304) had been approved.
The commission then considered whether to disclose any or all discussions held in closed session. A motion not to disclose was made, seconded and approved; the chair recorded the motion as unanimous.
What this means: The settlement will be forwarded to the Board of Supervisors for any required action, and the commission recorded finalized findings for the discipline matter. The commission has opted not to disclose closed‑session deliberations.
