Ethics Commission adopts annual report, will attach Comptroller performance report

The San Francisco Ethics Commission unanimously approved its draft annual report on Nov. 23 and agreed to include a link or attachment to a City Services Auditor (Comptroller) performance report that documents department performance measures.
A member of the public noted a discrepancy between the annual report’s stated number of audits and the Comptroller’s figures. Acting Executive Director Jesse Menardy explained the difference likely reflects audits performed by the Commission staff versus work completed by the controller’s office, which staff said carried out roughly 14 of the audits referenced in the Comptroller's report. Commissioners voted to include the Comptroller’s report as an attachment or link to provide additional context, with a clear designation that the attachment is produced by the Comptroller’s office and not an endorsement by the Commission.
The Commission also discussed earlier edits to the draft, including additions on lobbying, Prop J and a reference to enforcement matters. The vote to adopt the report with the referenced Comptroller attachment was carried unanimously.
