SFMTA says late production of some personnel records was remedied; Ethics Commission accepts explanation

The Ethics Commission reviewed a referral about SFMTA’s handling of a records request. Caroline Salaya, SFMTA Public Records Manager, acknowledged that some documents were produced late and said the agency had provided the official personnel file and offered to help the requester obtain division or medical/worker’s‑comp records that are maintained separately. Salaya said the agency had followed prior Task Force determinations about privacy waivers for sensitive materials and that copies of on‑site official files were made available for inspection. Commissioners concluded SFMTA had been the appropriate point of contact for the request, noted the late production, and directed staff to send a letter reminding the agency to improve timeliness and outreach when privacy waivers or off‑site files are involved.
