Mark Corso, finance and planning lead for the department, described the award as part of FEMA’s assistance to firefighters/CARES-related funding streams and said the department requested nearly $1 million for PPE including gloves, masks and gowns. Corso said the department will use the funds to support frontline personnel and that the department will absorb a departmental match referenced in the presentation.
A commissioner moved to accept the grant and another seconded the motion. The president conducted a roll-call vote; commissioners voted yes and the motion was reported as unanimous. The commission formalized its recommendation to the Board of Supervisors; the department noted that final acceptance and expenditure will depend on mayoral budget-office and Board approval steps.
The commission recorded no public comment on this item before the vote.
