Fire Commission minutes approved and 2017 calendar adopted; next meeting to consider warehouse inspections and capital/IT items
Summary
The commission unanimously approved the meeting minutes, adopted the 2017 meeting calendar (removing the second Nov. and Dec. meetings), and directed staff to agendize harassment-training as an action item and to bring capital/IT items for early January review.
At the Dec. 14 meeting the commission took several procedural actions. Vice President Ken Cleveland moved to approve minutes from earlier meetings; a commissioner seconded the motion and the minutes were approved unanimously. Later in the agenda the commission considered and adopted the 2017 Fire Commission calendar with a proposal to eliminate the second meeting in November and December of 2017; the motion carried unanimously.
Commissioners and staff identified items to appear on the Jan. 11, 2017 agenda, including elections, the department's strategic plan, warehouse-inspection discussion, the annual harassment-training action item, and capital and IT budget items that must be reviewed before the department's Feb. 21 budget submission. President Francie Covington asked staff to ensure capital and IT proposals are presented so the commission can act in time for mayoral submission.
