Fire Department outlines 150th-anniversary parade, requests volunteers and storage

Presenters emphasized that the event is funded through donations and corporate sponsors rather than general-fund dollars and listed major supporters, including Salesforce, Pacific Gas & Electric, Recology, Boston Properties and the Port of San Francisco.
Organizers said they expect roughly 1,000 seats in bleachers near the Little Embarcadero and are coordinating a press conference and volunteer assignments. The steering committee asked commissioners to help identify storage for the museum's motorized-apparatus collection (they requested about 15,000 square feet) because some equipment is being moved from a leased Academy of Arts storage site.
Commissioners praised the outreach options and asked organizers to provide logistics and flyer distribution details. The commission closed the presentation with thanks and a request that staff supply follow-up information on volunteer sign-ups and donated storage options.
