Commission hears update on Station 49 H23 classification talks

Acting Chief Mark Gonzales reported to the commission that, following meetings on July 18 and 19 with union representatives (Local 798), Department of Human Resources staff and labor-management representatives, the department had informal agreement on two core elements of a revised H23 classification: wage levels and minimum years of service. Gonzales said SFFD will work with DHR to modify the classification document this week and seek sign-off from both the City and the union before implementation.
He said the parties intend to continue frequent updates until a formal agreement is reached and the classification is implemented.
