DBI says November slow but on track amid citywide budget cuts and CBO closure

Alex Koskinen, Deputy Director for Administration, told commissioners that DBI experienced a slower November compared with last year but remains on course to come in on its budget for the fiscal year. "November was not our greatest month financially," Koskinen said, noting a prior year large project made comparisons unfavorable.
Koskinen said the mayor’s budget office has asked departments to plan for a 15% reduction to general‑fund supported expenditures and that DBI’s CBO allocation was reduced to $3,672,000 from $4.32 million the prior year. He warned of citywide uncertainty with a new mayoral administration and lower revenue projections.
Koskinen also reported that Casa Just Cause, a small CBO that receives DBI CBO funds, notified the department it will cease operations on Dec. 20; DBI staff said they are meeting with the organization to determine impacts and explore continuity options for services the CBO provides.
