The Abatement Appeals Board unanimously elected Commissioner Chavez as board president and Commissioner Newman as vice president at its regular March 20 meeting.
The board took the votes following nominations from colleagues. Commissioners voted by roll call with all five commissioners recorded as voting "Yes." The board also approved minutes for meetings on July 20, 2022, January 11, 2024, and January 17, 2024, after the chair read a correction to the July 2022 minutes into the record.
Separately, the board voted to amend its bylaws to change the start time for regular AAB meetings from 9:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.; that motion also passed by unanimous roll call. The actions were procedural and were completed before the board moved to hear abatement appeals.
