Liaison reports progress on 2010/2014/2020 earthquake safety and emergency response bonds

A committee liaison presented updates on three seismic and emergency response GO bond programs (2010, 2014 and 2020), outlining project status and appropriations.
The liaison said the 2010 bonds were sold and about 99% appropriated as of December, with two of three major projects fully funded and the public safety building completed and budget closed out. The auxiliary water supply system remains in construction but was described as approaching completion with an expected date in June 2023. Neighborhood fire stations funded under the bonds are largely appropriated and in various stages of modernization, with one generator replacement project projected for completion in November 2025.
The 2014 bonds were described as issued and 95% appropriated; the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner project is complete and in closeout while other projects are in post‑construction or closeout stages with a pending public art installation. The 2020 GEO bonds, which include several projects that overlap with 2010/2014 work, were reported at 34% appropriated; two new 2020 projects highlighted were a 911 call center and a disaster response facility at a stadium site.
The liaison thanked project managers and said construction milestones had been achieved since the prior report; committee members expressed appreciation and had no immediate questions.
