Commission elects Bustos as chair, Mara Rosales as vice chair; commissioners honor departing Beiser

The Commission on Community Investment and Infrastructure elected Chair Bustos to continue as chair and Mara Rosales as vice chair in roll-call votes, and commissioners offered tribute to departing Commissioner Beiser.
At the start of the meeting the secretary opened nominations under Section 27 of the successor agency bylaws for the chair position. Commissioner Scott nominated Chair Bustos; nominations were closed without opposition and the secretary called the roll. "The vote is 4 for Chair Bustos. That's 4 yeses and 1 absent," the secretary said. Chair Bustos told colleagues, "Thank you all very much for your vote of confidence," and said she would "do my best to live up to this."
Nominations for vice chair followed. Commissioner Scott nominated Mara Rosales, and commissioners confirmed the nomination by roll call: the secretary reported "4 for Commissioner Rosales. That's 4 yeses and 1 absent." Rosales thanked her fellow commissioners after the vote.
Earlier in the meeting Chair Bustos announced that Commissioner Beiser is leaving the commission because he is moving out of San Francisco. The chair and several commissioners offered remarks praising Beiser's contributions to the commission, citing his engagement on policy matters and work on an art project planned for Mission Bay. In brief public remarks, Commissioner Beiser thanked colleagues and staff for the experience and said he had learned much from serving on the commission.
The commission held a closed session pursuant to a cited government-code provision concerning the appointment of an executive director. The secretary later reported the closed session had concluded and that there was no reportable action.
Before adjourning, Commissioner Scott moved to adjourn and Vice Chair Rosales seconded; the commission adjourned at 2:41 p.m. The secretary announced the commission's next regularly scheduled meeting will be held remotely on Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2022, at 1 p.m.
