Commission adopts COVID‑19 vaccination requirement for commission members

The Commission on Community Investment and Infrastructure on Tuesday adopted a COVID‑19 vaccination requirement for its members consistent with policies for other city bodies.
Monica Davisteen, HR and Administrative Services Manager, presented the proposed policy: beginning Jan. 1, 2022, no member of the commission may attend or participate in any in‑person meeting unless they are fully vaccinated. Commissioners were asked to submit documentation of vaccination status to the HR manager by Dec. 30, 2021. The policy will remain in effect during the local emergency unless the mayor or Board of Supervisors terminates city body vaccination requirements.
Commissioners asked whether “fully vaccinated” includes booster shots; Davisteen said the requirement is tied to the primary vaccination series as interpreted by the city public‑health director at the time, and staff will clarify whether boosters will be required. Commissioners also heard that OCII staff are currently 100% vaccinated, and staff offered to follow up with practical details (upload method, deadlines) given the holiday schedule.
Commissioner Brackett moved adoption; Commissioner Feiser seconded. The roll call vote was 3 ayes, 2 absent — the policy was adopted.
Next steps: HR staff will contact commissioners to collect vaccination documentation and provide procedural details for submission and recordkeeping. The policy’s implementation depends on the ongoing local emergency and any future direction from the mayor or Board of Supervisors.
