Deputy Director Tyrus Madison summarized the October 2019 financial report, saying revenues were roughly flat compared with the prior year at about $23.5 million while expenditures were higher—driven primarily by increased work orders billed to other departments—resulting in projected spending and revenue roughly in line with the budget for the period covered.
Bill Strong provided a brief legislative update, noting the Board of Supervisors had unanimously passed the triennial code update that will take effect in December and begin a new three‑year code cycle on Jan. 1. Director Tom Hui gave a short major‑projects update called out by staff.
Deputy Director Ed Sweeney reported a monthly code enforcement summary for October 2019: spikes related to the soft‑story tier 3 expirations, thousands of inspections and hundreds of notices of violation and abatements; staff also noted significant outreach activity and case resolutions. Commissioners had no additional questions and the Commission moved to routine business.
