Office of Cannabis tells BIC permitting has begun, emphasizes equity, enforcement gaps

The San Francisco Office of Cannabis told the Building Inspection Commission on Jan. 15 that its permitting program is now moving beyond planning and into implementation, but that enforcement remains a capacity challenge.
Director Rodriguez, who leads the Office of Cannabis, told commissioners the office met its Q4 2019 goal of issuing its first permits and had issued two local permits so far. "Not only did we issue a first permit, we issued 2," Rodriguez said, and added the office was coordinating with other city agencies to streamline applicant backgrounds and land‑use reviews.
