OCII director: UCSF/UC Berkeley review finds Parcel A testing appropriate; Parcel G retesting contingent on EPA oversight

The executive director reported on Jan. 21 that the city received a UCSF and UC Berkeley findings report on environmental testing at Hunters Point Shipyard parcels A and G. The report, distributed to the mayor, Supervisor Shamann Walton and the city attorney on Jan. 17, concluded that California Department of Public Health (CDPH) testing of Parcel A was appropriate.
The report also concluded that the Navy’s partial work plan and proposed procedures for retesting Parcel G are appropriate ‘‘so long as EPA continues to review the plan and do the oversight they’re required to do,’’ the director said. The director emphasized that decisions about appropriate development on Parcel G cannot be made until the retesting data are available for review.
Supervisor Shamann Walton is scheduled to host a community meeting about the findings on Jan. 28 at 7 p.m.; OCII staff said city and university experts will be available to respond to community questions. The director also noted there will be a separate residents-only meeting on Parcel A.
