- Fire-safety ordinance (File 180756): The commission recommended the ordinance to allow DBI and the fire department to require new or upgraded fire-safety systems in buildings with demonstrated patterns of negligence. Staff will add an explicit warning step and emphasized the hearing and appeals process and potential for court-ordered physical upgrades if owners do not comply.
- Plumbing code amendment (section 603.3): The commission recommended deleting the local amendment that referenced PUC water-quality rules and duplicative requirements, reverting to the California Plumbing Code. Staff cited cost and lack of evidence for the stricter device requested by PUC/public-health in some cases.
- Review-process ordinance (File 180618): The commission recommended codifying an existing review process for Board of Supervisors legislation affecting DBI operations and budget. Bill Strachan said the measure provides timelines and formalizes a process the commission already follows.
- Nomination subcommittee appointment: Commissioner Moss was appointed to the nomination subcommittee (continued from August); appointment carried by voice/roll-call.
