"The ordinance essentially will have us responding to complaints as they come in now," Strachan said, noting that the supervisor’s office plans outreach in District 11 and that Planning typically lacks enforcement capacity for these cases.
Commissioners discussed permeability, unauthorized parking use, and whether the question of converting front open space into parking remains primarily a Planning jurisdiction. Several members asked that the sponsor’s legislative aide attend the next hearing to answer specifics about affected neighborhoods, penalty assessments and outreach; the commission voted to continue the item to the next hearing with questions to the sponsor.
