OCII extends Yerba Buena Gardens management and programming contracts through 2019

The Commission on Community Investment and Infrastructure voted March 20 to authorize third amendments that extend contracts for property management and public programming at Yerba Buena Gardens while the agency transfers the property to the City and County of San Francisco.
Michelle de Guzman, OCII senior development specialist, told commissioners the MJM Management Group contract would be extended one year with the city retaining two one‑year options, with a management fee of $170,469 for the extended year and an aggregate cap on the contract not to exceed $1,393,889. The separate programming agreement with Yerba Buena Arts & Events would be extended for one year with an initial extension payment not to exceed $75,000 and an aggregate cap not to exceed $2,175,000. Both contracts were amended to add indemnification for the city when the agreements are assigned upon transfer.
De Guzman said the extensions are intended to avoid service interruptions when OCII transfers real property assets, leases and restricted revenue sources to the city as part of the Long Range Property Management Plan implementation. She said state Department of Finance approval of the PMP and the ROPS schedule require the assignments to align with the end of the fiscal year unless both parties execute assignment documents earlier.
Representatives from both contractors — Mary McHugh for MJM and Linda Lucero for Yerba Buena Arts & Events — were present for questions. A single public speaker, Ace Washington, voiced general support for personnel on the record and urged close adherence to community hiring commitments.
The commission voted on each amendment separately. Roll calls showed three ayes and one absence for both items; each motion carried.
