Commission approves recommendation to give 90-day review window for Board legislation

Bill Strachan, Legislative and Public Affairs, presented a proposed ordinance (Board of Supervisors File No. 170,740) that would amend the building code to establish a 90‑day review period for legislation proposed by the Board of Supervisors and add other related requirements. Strachan said the change brings the commission into alignment with Planning and could be expedited by having Supervisor Farrell introduce the ordinance.
Strachan also said the City Attorney’s office had drafted related cleanup items and that supervisors Tang and Peskin agreed to sponsor similar expediting measures for electric-vehicle and solar permitting. Strachan said the items are moving forward and could reach final action by Labor Day or shortly thereafter.
Commissioner Lee moved to approve the commission’s recommendation on the ordinance and the motion was seconded. A roll-call vote recorded affirmative votes from Vice President Walker, Commissioner Gilman, Commissioner Konstan, Commissioner Lee, Commissioner Clinch and Commissioner Warshall; the motion carried unanimously.
