DAS commission approves multiple grants for nutrition, digital access, LGBTQ+ and veterans services
Summary
The commission unanimously approved a series of grant awards and contracts Aug. 3, including a Bayview nutrition grant, food bank funding, two Swords to Plowshares veterans grants, a Stepping Stone LGBTQ+ pilot, SDA modifications and state ADRC and OARR contracts; the appointment of Darlene Ramos to the advisory council was also approved.
The San Francisco Department of Disability and Aging Services Commission on Aug. 3 approved a slate of grants, contract authorizations and an advisory council appointment intended to expand nutrition, digital access, caregiver support, LGBTQ+ programming and veterans services.
Major approvals included:
- Bayview Hunters Point multipurpose senior services: grant for outreach and culturally responsive nutrition support, $450,000 with 10% contingency (total not to exceed $495,000). Presenter Tiffany Kearney said the Bayview/African American Faith-Based Coalition aims to reach at least 500 new consumers and provide at least 17,000 meals.
- Senior and Disability Action (SDA): modification to existing grants, adding $100,000 plus a 10% contingency; revised total not to exceed $2,616,186 to support wages,…
