Building Inspection Commission reappoints Code Advisory Committee and Board of Examiners; oath administered

The Building Inspection Commission approved a slate of appointments and reappointments to the Code Advisory Committee and the Board of Examiners at the Dec. 21 meeting. The chairman read nominees for the Code Advisory Committee (including RJ Edgar Finney Jr., Tony Sanchez Correa III, Arnie Lerner, Henry Karnilewicz and others) and candidates for the Board of Examiners (including Manuel Flores, Patrick Buskovich, Bradley Sugarman and others). The chair also noted a vacant disability access advocate seat and a vacant general contractor seat.
Commissioner Lee explained that the nomination committee recommended reappointing 16 of 17 Code Advisory Committee members after noting the committee had held roughly 70 meetings this year reviewing proposed ordinances and amendments to the 2016 California Building Code. Item 7 proposed reassigning an existing Board of Examiners member, Armen Wolski, from a general contractor seat to the registered fire protection engineer seat (term through Sept. 15, 2019) to better align qualifications.
A motion to approve items 5, 6 and 7 was made and seconded. The commission conducted a roll-call vote: Vice President Walker — Aye; Commissioner Gilman — Aye; Commissioner Konstan — Aye; Commissioner Lee — Aye; Commissioner Warshall — Aye. The motion carried unanimously. Appointees were invited forward to sign oaths of office and receive certificates; the commission administered the oath at the meeting.
No public comment was offered on the appointments during the vote.
