Commission approves consent items, authorizes third amendment to outside legal contract

At the Oct. 6, 2015 meeting, the Commission on Community Investment and Infrastructure voted to adopt the consent agenda covering item 5A (approval of minutes), item 5B (fourth amendment to construction contract HPS114 for the Hunters Point Shipyard art installation) and item 5D (a second amendment to legal services with the Thomas Law Group to increase the contract by $100,000 to a total not to exceed $150,000). Commissioner Singh moved the consent items; Commissioner Mondejar seconded. Commissioners Mondejar, Pimentel, Singh and Bustos voted yes and the secretary recorded the items as adopted.

Separately, Chair Rosales recused herself from item 5C because she stated that "The law firm of Reinisoane, Sloan, Holtzman and Sakai, is a subcontractor to, a client matter with my law firm." Staff presented item 5C as a request to authorize a third amendment to the legal services contract with "Rennie, Sloan, Holtzman, and Sakai, a limited liability partnership" to increase the contract amount by $75,000 for a total not to exceed $175,000 to obtain specialized legal services (listed as Action and discussion resolution number 50 92015 in the record). Jim Morales (general counsel and deputy director) summarized the labor-related history and explained the combined legal and HR consulting consolidation under the contract.

Commissioner Singh moved the amendment and the motion was seconded. The roll call showed 4 ayes and one recusal; the secretary announced the motion passes and the amendment was authorized.
