Commission authorizes $345,861 amendment to Folsom Street streetscape MOU to advance permit and bidding work

The commission on Aug. 18 approved a first amendment to the memorandum of understanding with the San Francisco Department of Public Works to advance the Transbay Folsom Street streetscape project into Phase 2A work.
OCII staff said Phase 1 design work is nearly complete and that the amendment adds $310,861 for the Phase 2A scope (completing construction documents to 100%, permit submission, private property investigations and public outreach) plus $35,000 to cover SFMTA livable‑streets review and coordination, for a total amendment of $345,861 and an aggregate MOU total not to exceed $829,523.
Staff said the amendment breaks Phase 2 into subphases; 2A will allow bidding and contracting readiness and is anticipated to return to the commission for construction authorization later in the fall, with construction (subphase 2C) expected in early 2016. The work includes rain gardens, new trees, lighting, colored concrete/sidewalk accents and coordination with the community benefit district for long‑term maintenance.
The commission approved the amendment on a 3‑0 roll call vote (one commissioner absent).
Next steps: OCII will bring subphase 2A contract authorization to the Commission for bidding and contracting in October and will continue coordination with DPW, SFMTA and community stakeholders.
