Board honors outgoing commissioners, accepts mayoral recognition and confirms advisory appointments

The San Francisco Board of Education took time to honor three departing members and to confirm several advisory appointments.
President Alexander and colleagues paid tribute to Commissioners Kevin Bogus, Jenny Lam and Mark Sanchez for years of service. Hong Mei Pang, the mayor—s youth and family advisor, read a recognition on behalf of Mayor London Breed especially acknowledging Commissioner Lam—s longtime advocacy for equity and early-childcare access. Speakers from the community, including student delegates and union leaders, offered thanks and personal remembrances.
The board then approved appointments to advisory bodies: Violetta Garcia and another CAC nominee were appointed to the Community Advisory Committee for Special Education, and Hannah Doerr was appointed to the Parcel Tax Oversight Committee. Each appointment passed by roll call (6 ayes). The board also accepted several routine consent items and adjourned at 9:55 PM.
President Alexander closed by thanking the outgoing commissioners and noting the board will continue business (including the budget votes) during the same meeting.
