Patrick from Research, Planning and Assessment said staff are breaking out the EWI population by subgroup, by reason for EWI (attendance, GPA, or both), and by IEP status to better target strategies. Commissioners pressed for quicker analysis and for specific approaches to support African American students and other focal groups with low exit rates.
Commissioners also asked about grading‑for‑equity work and counselor training; staff said grading‑for‑equity is a year‑long learning strand for assistant principals and that the district will follow up with deeper analyses and appendix slides showing subgroup data.
