The Building Inspection Commission voted unanimously Feb. 19 to adopt revisions to Administrative Bulletin AB093 that implement the 2013 California Green Building Standards Code.
Kirk Means (DBI Technical Services) and Barry Hooper (Department of the Environment) outlined the key changes: broadened scope to match state code changes, an expanded list of acceptable credentials for a Green Building Compliance Professional of Record (adding ICC CalGreen inspector certification alongside LEED and GreenPoint raters), and new or revised submittal forms (attachments C6'C8) to simplify compliance for interior tenant improvements, residential additions and municipal projects.
Hooper said the bulletin also improves clarity for applicants by providing clearer tables and forms so applicants only complete the sections that apply to their project type. DBI asked for delegated authority to make minor editorial and code citation corrections to the bulletin without returning to the commission for each minor edit.
Following discussion, commissioners moved, seconded and adopted AB093 by unanimous roll-call vote.
What happens next: DBI will publish the revised bulletin and continue minor editorial updates as needed; staff will return to the commission for substantive changes.
