Twelfth Avenue abatement appeal continued after arbitration scheduling

At the Nov. 16 meeting the Abatement Appeals Board heard an appeal for Case 67521743 (Twelfth Avenue). Appellant counsel Heather Wolnick said the parties are engaged in a dispute over a retaining wall between adjoining owners and requested a three‑month continuance because a binding arbitration is scheduled in January.
John Hinton, acting senior building inspector, told the board the appellant and the department were agreeable to a continuance. Commissioners asked whether any immediate health or safety issues existed; the department said there were none to their knowledge. After discussion the board approved continuing the matter to its January meeting to allow the arbitration process to proceed and to let the departments and parties report back.
The appellant asked the board to move the case to February to follow arbitration, but the board recorded the continuation to the January meeting and directed parties to report the outcome at the next appearance.
