Legal counsel advised the board that current SEIU‑represented positions are protected and would remain district employees; staff and management said the PSOA will address classification issues for non‑bargained contractors and reduce the district’s exposure under recent contractor‑classification guidance.
After lengthy public testimony for and against, the board approved the PSOA by roll call (6 ayes; 1 member absent). The PSOA will preserve SFUSD’s ownership of the broadcast license, require continued district‑oriented services (board meeting broadcasts, school announcements, student internships) and allow the nonprofit board to manage fundraising and hire certain staff under the nonprofit’s payroll, following the agreement’s terms.
