Commission appoints two members to Access Appeals Commission, leaves one vacancy
Summary

The Building Inspection Commission approved two appointments to the Access Appeals Commission during its Dec. 16 meeting.
Zachary Nathan, an architect and certified access specialist, was nominated and approved for the public member seat. Alice Brown, who has served on the Access Appeals Commission for several years and represents disability interests, was also approved for reappointment to a person‑with‑a‑disability seat and sworn in.
A third nominee, Walter Park, was nominated for the second disability seat but did not receive an affirmative majority (vote was split); that vacancy remains and the commission’s nominating subcommittee will reconvene to consider additional candidates. Commissioners and public commenters discussed representation and urged the panel to consider balance in future selections.
Separately, in closed session the commission approved the appointment of Pamela Levin as Deputy Director (Administrative Services) for DBI; the appointment was disclosed after recess.
