Board approves deputy superintendent contract, compensation plan and a student expulsion

The Board approved several personnel and student discipline items when it reconvened from recess.
President Cook moved to approve an employment contract between the district and a deputy superintendent for strategic partnerships and communications at grade M‑28, step 9, effective Oct. 23, 2018 through June 31, 2019; a motion to approve was seconded and the board recorded affirmative roll‑call votes among those present.
The board also approved a proposal regarding compensation for underrepresented employees after a motion and second. The clerk conducted roll call and recorded affirmative votes among present members.
Finally, the board approved a stipulated expulsion agreement for one middle school student (Case number 20082019), waiving a hearing and ordering placement out of district for the remainder of the fall semester 2018 through the end of the spring semester 2019. The roll call on the expulsion was recorded with affirmative votes among present commissioners.
Each approval was executed by roll call during the reconvened open session prior to closed session; the meeting record reflects votes by those commissioners in attendance.
