The San Francisco Unified School District board reviewed the developer impact fee annual and five‑year report covering the fiscal year ending June 30, 2017. Acting chief facilities officer Yanko Radanoff presented the highlights: a beginning balance of roughly $37.57 million, collections during the year of about $10.63 million, interest of approximately $258,000, expenditures of about $12.17 million, and use of developer‑fee funds to support 42 school projects, including capital projects to increase seat capacity.
Commissioners asked about allowable uses; staff and the consultant clarified that developer fees fund capital and seat‑capacity projects (for example, new classroom buildings) and are generally restricted from funding deferred maintenance or routine operating expenses.
On labor and personnel business the board approved tentative bargaining agreements. Staff corrected the unit name for one item: the tentative agreement was with the International Federation of Professional and Technical Engineers (IFPTE), Local 21 (not IBEW Local 6 as printed), and the board approved the attached tentative agreement and public disclosure. The board also approved a tentative agreement with Service Employees International Union (SEIU) Local 1021. Both actions were read into the record and approved by roll call.
Board members also referred several proposed board policy revisions to committee and approved first‑reading referrals, including policies on student assignment, personnel work‑related injuries, fees and charges, and nondiscrimination/harassment procedures; the board heard committee reports and scheduled future committee meetings to consider the policies in detail.
