DBI announces "Meet the DBI Pros" public summit for Oct. 25

Interim DBI Director announced a free public "Meet the DBI Pros" summit Oct. 25 at the Bill Graham Civic Center with workshops on permits, landlord/tenant responsibilities, seismic safety and other topics; some sessions will repeat to accommodate working attendees.
The Department of Building Inspection announced a public summit titled "Meet the DBI Pros" scheduled for Oct. 25 at the Bill Graham Civic Center in Civic Center. Interim Director Lee said the free event will run roughly 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and will include free morning refreshments and a paid lunch option.
The summit will offer free workshops on home and commercial permits, landlord and tenant responsibilities, seismic safety, condo conversions and disability access. Staff from planning, the Department of Public Works and the fire department are expected to attend to answer questions. Some sessions will be repeated in morning and afternoon blocks to allow working residents to attend.
Director Lee encouraged people to register on the DBI website and said the department will mail a schedule of sessions. She described the summit as an outreach effort to improve public understanding of DBI processes and to provide individualized time with staff members.
Commissioners asked staff to provide a more detailed schedule and to include a summit presentation on a future agenda so commissioners can help promote participation.
The department said more information would be posted online and mailed to interested parties.
