The board voted to suspend rules to permit immediate first readings and adoption of several policy updates, including policies to conform to an earlier pathways/resolution on career technical education and to update recruitment and selection procedures. General Counsel read into the record the requested action to adopt Board Policy 06/1978 (career technical education) and Board Policy 04/2011 (recruitment and selection) to align district policy with Board Resolution 155‑26, pathways and internship programming.
Separately, the board also adopted an update to Board Policy 5.141.4 on child abuse prevention and reporting to conform with the board’s earlier resolution supporting countering human trafficking and commercial sexual exploitation of children. All adoptions recorded in the transcript passed on roll‑call votes with seven ayes where noted.
During public comment, Jamie Gerber of Project WHAT (We’re Here and Talking) asked the board to support a resolution addressing the needs of students who have a parent currently incarcerated in San Francisco, citing an estimate of approximately 18,000 young people in that category within city schools and urging training and services for teachers and counselors.
