Board OKs Gateway Middle School charter renewal amid community testimony

Parents, students and staff delivered one-minute public comments in favor of renewal: Tulsi Pye, a Gateway parent, praised the school's diversity and core values; student speaker Andy Hernandez described the school's positive impact on student confidence; staff and parent representatives highlighted small classes, advisory programs and strong parent engagement.
Commissioners acknowledged the high turnout and voted to approve the renewal on the committee recommendation. Commissioner Norton and Vice President Haney both thanked Gateway leaders for outreach and communication with the district. The roll call recorded a majority in favor and the board congratulated the Gateway community.
