Votes at a glance: board approves minutes, consent calendar, K21 allocation and multiple closed-session personnel actions

The San Francisco Unified School District board recorded multiple routine and personnel votes at its meeting.

Minutes: The board moved and seconded approval of the minutes from Feb. 24, 2015; the motion carried on a roll-call vote.

Consent calendar: The consent calendar was moved and seconded. One item (K21) was severed for discussion. After discussion the severed item (K21) was approved by roll call.

Closed session: The board reported closed-session actions from 03/03/2015, including settlement authority in Chin v. SFUSD and a series of administrative contract approvals and non-renewal notices. Several items were recorded as approved ‘‘by a vote of 7 ayes’’ and others had recorded tallies (for example, some non-renewal notices were approved 6 ayes, 1 nay). The board listed approvals for a range of executive contracts (chief, associate superintendents, assistant superintendents, executive directors, directors, supervisors and program administrators) and recorded will-not-renew notices for several principals and directors.

Procedural referrals: The board referred a Public Education Enrichment Fund expenditure plan for 2015–16 to the Committee of the Whole (hearing March 17) and referred proposals to create Arabic and Vietnamese world language pathways to the curriculum and budget committees.

Outcome summary: Minutes and the consent calendar were approved; K21 (additional $250,000 from the PIF for translation services) was approved after severance; closed-session personnel and settlement actions were reported as approved by the votes recorded in closed session.
