Superintendent Carranza opened the presentation and turned the item over to Associate Superintendent Kevin Truitt and the district’s expanded‑learning staff, who outlined the current landscape and the cost uncertainties that the board would need to address. "There are 26,005 students enrolled in K through 5 elementary schools," Truitt said in his staff report, and of those he reported "15,752 students are enrolled in an after‑school program now" while some 10,253 are not enrolled and include students on waiting lists.
