At its January meeting the San Francisco Unified School District board completed several routine votes and elections.
Elections: Sandra Feuer was elected president of the Board of Education for 2014 by acclamation after a nomination; Emily Morase was nominated and elected vice president following a roll-call vote.
Minutes and consent: The board approved Regular Meeting minutes (Dec. 10, 2013) and Special Meeting minutes (Dec. 17, 2013) by roll-call vote. The consent calendar passed with several technical corrections to funding codes and allocations noted by staff; one item (K65) drew an abstention and staff agreed to pull other items for further review as requested by a public speaker.
Calendar: The board adopted the 2014–15 instructional calendar after a staff presentation and one public speaker.
The board also heard a host of presentations and public comments on higher-profile items (a Downtown arts hub resolution, support for a sugary-beverage tax concept and the SFUSD–SFPD MOU), which are reported separately.
