Supporters ask Board to renew Creative Arts Charter; petition referred to curriculum and budget committees

Isabelle McDaniel (CACS coordinator) thanked the Board for reviewing the petition and described the school’s pedagogical approach in the context of new state assessments and the Local Control Funding Formula. Parents gave personal testimony about their children’s academic and social growth at CACS; one parent described multiple children receiving needed special‑education services through the school.
The superintendent’s office referred the petition to the curriculum, program, and budget/business services committees for additional review before any final action. Public speakers requested site visits and encouraged board members to consider the school’s history of inclusion and parent engagement in evaluating the renewal request.
