At a meeting June 28, district budget staff described the numbers behind the move. Staff said the categorical accounts converted to subaccounts show $58,000,000 in revenue tied to formerly restricted programs; of that total the district projects continuing to spend about $42,000,000 in the same ways as before, and using the remaining $16,000,000 as a credit against general‑fund expenses such as the weighted-student formula and central-office costs. The board voted to adopt the budget by roll call (7 ayes).
