Kevin Truitt, who led site engagement, summarized site processes: schools engaged staff, families and community partners, drafted aspirations and current‑state descriptions, and proposed strategic actions with measures.
Truitt described a review process called "wows and wonders": reviewers transcribed and cataloged strengths (wows) and areas needing clarification (wonders) from every school draft; the team compiled roughly 677 "wows" into a public resource on the Beyond the Talk website so sites can share practice. A rubric with emerging/developing/exemplary descriptors was created to help schools self‑assess and refine drafts; revised school scorecards are due May 1.
Board members asked about evidence, verification, central‑office follow‑up and timelines. Staff said central‑office divisions will create scorecards aligned to site needs and that data tools such as the district matrix will help compare trends and identify practices to scale. The update emphasized engagement and transparency: districts and community partners will be invited to use site materials and recommendations to guide professional development and resource allocation.
