Board adopts state monitoring report for Everett Middle School

The San Francisco Unified School District Board of Education adopted the School Assistance and Intervention Team (SATE) monitoring report for Everett Middle School on Feb. 27, 2007. The California State Board of Education had designated Everett as a state-monitored school for insufficient growth, and the district contracted WestEd to serve as the State Assistance Provider.
Didi Desvin, executive director of school reform, presented the report and recommended that the board adopt the findings and recommended corrective actions. She summarized district responsibilities under state law: contract with an approved state assistance provider, create a district school liaison team (DSLT), complete an academic program survey with evidence-based ratings, and present findings and recommended corrective actions to the local governing board for adoption. The board adopted the SATE report by roll call and staff said monitoring reports would be provided quarterly as Everett implements corrective actions.
The adoption obligates district staff to work with WestEd and the Everett site on an implementation plan and to report progress to the board at three-month intervals.
