Planning Commission unanimously endorses supervisors’ resolution urging state funding for affordable housing

Georgia Shudish, a member of the public, supported the endorsement and displayed a 2017 New York Times chart she said illustrated growing income and wealth disparities, offering to share the chart with officials in Sacramento. "This is from 2017, and I can only imagine it's gotten worse," Shudish said.
Staff told the commission the full text of the resolution is available on the department's website and linked from the meeting agenda. With no further deliberation, the commission approved the endorsement by a unanimous roll-call vote recorded as 6 to 0.
The endorsement does not itself appropriate funds; it signals the planning commission’s formal support for the Board of Supervisors’ appeal to state policymakers. Staff said the resolution language and related materials are posted online for public review.
The commission moved on to other items after the vote.
